Tarek Lakhrissi is a French-Moroccan artist whose practice spans video, installation, performance, and poetry. Grounded in literature and informed by pop and visual culture, his work critically examines the ways language, desire, race, and power shape bodies and subjectivities. Through symbolic and affective forms, he constructs speculative narratives that challenge dominant representations and foreground questions of visibility, vulnerability, and otherness.
Lakhrissi has exhibited extensively in major international institutions and exhibitions, including Palais de Tokyo (FR), Migros Museum (CH), the 22nd Biennale of Sydney (AU), Julia Stoschek Foundation (DE), Wiels (BE), the Louvre (FR), Centre Pompidou (FR), Hayward Gallery (GB), Haus der Kunst (DE), Institut du Monde Arabe (FR), Fondation Lafayette Anticipations (FR), KW Institute for Contemporary Art (DE), Manchester International Festival (GB), Tinguely Museum (CH), HKW (DE), ICA London (GB), Shedhalle (CH), Fondation Ricard (FR), and the Quadriennale di Roma – Palazzo delle Esposizioni (IT). His work has also been presented at Art Basel Paris+, Frieze London, Liste, and Art Basel Miami Beach. Lakhrissi’s works are held in several public and private collections, including CNAP (FR), Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (IT), Lafayette Anticipations (FR), Migros Museum (CH), and the Defares Collection.
He currently teaches at Zürich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and at Ensba Lyon (FR), and previously taught at HEAD – Genève (2020-2022). He is represented by Galerie Allen (FR) and Nicoletti (UK).
